Out of the keenness of Tanta University on developing and updating the Data Center, the headquarters of the center at the Central Library Building at the Medical Campus has been expanded. It is periodically provided with the latest equipment and programs. In addition, the network connection speed with the Egyptian universities has been increased. The network connection speed with the faculties of the university has been increased as well. They are all connected together via fiber optic cables. Moreover, the internet speed of all the sites has been increased to contribute to upgrading the educational and research efficiency.
The Main Center of Information Network Unit is connected to the EUN via fiber optic line (8 branches) at a speed of 200 Mbit/s. The headquarters is provided with the latest communication equipment including routers, switches, and backbone switch which are used to connect the Information Network of the university to the EUN and the faculties of the university inside and outside the Medical Campus and Sibirbay Campus.
The headquarters of the Information Network Unit is located in the Medical Campus at the Central Library building. It consists of:
• The major room with an area of 50 square meters equipped with the Data Center, fire alarm, and four air conditioners
• Two additional rooms affiliate to the main room; the area of each one is 50 square meters for engineers and technicians.
• A room for the secretary and the manager
• A stock, and a room for the night shift.
• A room for power outage preventer with an air conditioner.
